Varnum’s Regiment was honored to host the 88th Annual Meeting of the Centennial Legion of Historic Military Commands, October 24 – 27, 2024. Units from Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, South Carolina, and Rhode Island attended. Highlights of meeting, which was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Warwick, RI, included a tour of the Rhode Island State House, including a special viewing of the State’s Royal Charter from 1663; a parade and change of command ceremony on the State House grounds; tours of three historic RI armories; a presentation by RI Adjutant General Christopher Callahan; a Newport Trolley Tour; and a dinner gala at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, featuring RI Congressman Gabe Amo as the keynote speaker.

Varnum’s Regiment member Steve Villari named Grand Marshal of the East Greenwich Veterans Day Parade. Steve Villari, an active member of Varnum’s Regiment for close to 50 years, served as Grand Marshal of the 2024 Veterans Day Parade, along with his wife Diane. Both are long-standing members of the Varnum Continentals and well-respected local business owners. Steve, a veteran, was honored by the town’s selection. Varnum’s Regiment salutes you, Steve, on this well-deserved recognition.
